Student Engagement Activities on Academic Performance of Students in Public Secondary Schools in Hargeisa, Somaliland

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of student engagement activities on academic performance of students in public secondary schools in Hargeisa, Somaliland. The study was used simple random method of sampling. It was conducted from 322 students in grade form four from 10 public secondary schools in Hargeisa city using questionnaire of data collection. The data was analyzed through descriptive and linear regression analysis. The had three objectives including to Determine the influence of miscellaneous tasks on academic performance of students in public secondary schools in Hargeisa city; to Determine the influence of mental activities on academic performance of students in public secondary schools in Hargeisa city; and Determine the influence of reading and writing activities on academic performance of students in public secondary schools in Hargeisa city. The study found that miscellaneous tasks has a significant influence on academic performance of students in public secondary schools in Hargeisa city. In addition, the study determined that mental activities has no significance influence on academic performance of students in public secondary schools. Moreover, the study depicted that reading and writing has a significant influence on academic performance of students in public secondary schools in Hargeisa, Somaliland.
